What inspired Summer’s Summer with Summer?
I was in a magical girl moment, and thought about a group of magical girls that were all from completely different themes, so the only thing tying them together was the transformation. Summer being the wielder of Summer instantly made sense, and I imagined her as the most in-tune with the genre out of the whole group. The wielder of Princess being a not-yet-out trans girl also made sense. I knew I wanted Invention, but not necessarily their abilities. I wanted a horse girl to end up with a wolf because it seemed funny to me. Cas and Cindy were already parts of the world, so they made sense to add, and I had a cast.
I wanted Summer to have something like main-character syndrome, with an arc about how she isn’t important, but the earnestness of her character as I wrote her kept me from the worst damages to her ego. Instead I just put her loved ones in harm’s way!
Who’s the oldest?
Kids? Cindy is 16, Van, Summer, Emmy, and Nerves are 12, with that birthday order, and Cas is 9.
Talismans? Death is the oldest. Winter is second. Invention is the youngest, with Princess being next youngest.
How old are the Sisters in relationship to each other?
Winter is the oldest, then Spring, Summer, and Autumn. The gaps between them get progressively smaller. Summer and Autumn are closest in age.
Is Talisman Real?
None of these characters are real, but Talisman isn’t more fictional than the rest of them.
Will we meet Gamble & Tarot?
We already have! They make an appearance in Heroes’ Guild: Founding.
Will we interact with non-mystic superhumans?
Eventually, but I’m not sure how many will be met in the Arcana Club Saga.
How many books will the Arcana Club Saga be?
At least 4, but possibly 5 or 6, and then they’ll be demoted to weekly series like the rest of our super teams.
How are Summer and Winter going to work together?
Well enough that the next story isn’t about them.
Who’s the next story about?
It’ll be titled The Nervous Princess, so hopefully that clues you in.
Will Nerves and Summer spend more time together?
Yes. She meant it when she said they should spend more time together.
What will be different in the novel version?
Since Summer’s Summer with Summer was primarily discovery written, you can expect the final product to wind up very different. While I won’t necessarily rewrite from the top, I will be looking for what’s no longer part of the story I want to tell, and what I need to expand upon to tell a better story. I look forward to the challenge.
Will we see these characters anywhere else?
I have some plans for Cindy and Cas in particular, but those are staying under wraps for now. This corner of the universe will not remain isolated forever, I assure you.
Who is Scuro’s next host?
There’s going to be a story about it, just you wait.
Why does Chiaro want the brides?
Who wouldn’t want the most powerful spirits on their side? But also, the brides were all married to Talisman in different lives. Tarot was Talisman’s son, and Chiaro is called Tarot’s brother, so there might be a specific bride he wants on his side.
Is Cas safe?
Of course not.
Will we ever meet Summer’s dad?
I have no idea.

I actually thought about Summer dispersing the other seasons across River, Kei, and Lei, but I decided the Winter/Summer ending worked better.
